According to the new regulation published in the Official Gazette on August 9, 2024, a new restriction has been introduced regarding advertising for lawyers. Previously banned from advertising on social media, lawyers are now also prohibited from engaging in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) activities. This regulation completely forbids lawyers from advertising or receiving advertisements on online platforms in any form.
Lawyers who do not comply with the advertising ban will face investigations, and a defense will be requested from the relevant lawyer. The new regulation tightens existing restrictions in the legal profession to preserve ethical standards and imposes stricter rules on the promotion of legal services.
